My Makeup Starter Kit!

here's my take on my first beauty-related post...

You probably won't catch a Filipino teenager(especially if she's in high school) residing in the Philippines wearing makeup save for the classic lipstick or sometimes, baby powder. I usually only see older Filipino women wearing makeup in the streets(usually on their way to work). So putting it in simpler terms, many Filipinos like to keep in au naturel, not because there's anything wrong with wearing makeup, but because it's their personal preference. As they say, it's our flaws that make each of us perfect.

I recently just got back to Riyadh from my summer vacation in the Philippines, and I brought a couple of things with me.

I guess you can say I'm an avid beauty-related videos watcher on da Youtube (read: I have way too much free time on my hands, and I waste them by watching gurus do their thang), and I've been following a couple of beauty blogs for years. So, I think it's not a surprise how I've grown to be become more interested in makeups and the likes. I've always wanted to experiment a bit with makeup, and although I feel like I'm too young to wear makeup and I don't have the confidence to wear it yet, I also feel like it's never too early too learn about it and play with it.

Here's the list of things I've got. Most of the e.l.f. products were given to me by an/my aunt as sort-of a despedida gift(Thank you!). I looked up most of the products before settling on buying them. Almost all of the products can be found in drugstores, so they were relatively affordable but they were still of good quality.

Nichido True Colors Liquid Foundation with sunscreen in True Natural
e.l.f. studio Flawless Finish Foundation with SPF 15 sunscreen in Porcelain
Fanny Serrano Concealer with SPF 40+ in Cashew
Daiso Oil Blotting Sheets
Maybelline Clear Smooth ALL IN ONE Shine-free Cake Powder with SPF 32+ in 03 Natural
e. l.f. Cover Everything Concealer in Light
Maybelline Blush Studio Cheeky Glow blush in Fresh Coral
Nichido True Colors Powder Blush in Tomato
e.l.f. Eyelid Primer in Sheer
Careline Eye Shadow x3 in Lollipop
e.l.f. Flawless Eyeshadow in Beautiful Browns
e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color in Butternut
Anahiwa Liquid Eyeliner in 01 Muscat
Liquid Eyeliner by H&M
Essence Eyebrow Designer in 03 Light Brown
Avon Duo Eye brush
MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Impassioned

That's about it! If you have any product suggestions for me to try out(the basics and whatnot), I'd love to hear them! Maybe I'd even do a beginner-product review series if I get around to it. :)

  5. I think it is amazing to grow up around people that taught you "imperfections makes you perfect", every person should learn that before experimenting with make up. But I do understand that watching all these amazing personalities on the internet or television with polished make up, makes you want to experiment by yourself.
So, give it try, You know that you're beautiful without make up, so know that you know the main base find a courage to learn about magic of make up. Start at home and start with natural shades, that's my advice.
I wish you the best, and I love the products that you bought.
    Lots of love,

    1. I think so too, our imperfections are what define us and make us who we are; we can't all be the same or look the same, that's absurd. But I have to say, the way I see it is I'm LEARNING by EXPERIMENTING because that's the only way I feel like that would help me learn to the full extent since I am quite confident that I've already learned the basics and such.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment, I really appreciate it, and I'll try out your advice. (: x

  10. ELF products are so good for a starter kit, perfect to experiment with. I love that saying 'it's our flaws that make each of us perfect', I think it's so true. Flaws make us who we are and it reality often aren't 'flaws' at all!

    1. Thank you, and I think so too. They're not flaws, they're what makes us who we are, and if we don't have them then we'd all look the same, right?
